Afuegalpitu Red Ca Sanchu

Ca Sanchu is one of the most famous cheese from Asturias and pitu Afuega'l has always rewarded of the Morcín competition. Again during 2009 as this that has led many in the 4 categories in the competition. Nothing less than first two, a third and a second!

In the neighborhood "The Pumariega" both, close to grade, is where its facilities for many years used as a raw material that exploits livestock own good pasture in the area.

Respects the method of preparation on the family tradition by following the old ways learned from Maria Sabel of Ca Florentu Cubias, mother of Filomena, the current maintainer.

The Afuega'l pitu is a unique cheese in the world. In fact it is considered one of the oldest and traditional cheeses from Asturias which was being prepared in all the farmhouses for the simple process of spontaneous curd.

Since 1981, and continuously, has been held in Foz de Morcín the first Sunday after the January 17 Certamen Pitu Cheese Afuega'l more important.

Such events help to increase the fame of this cheese, which is now considered the second best-selling after Cabrales Asturias. And Grade Morcín are renowned producers of Afuega'l Pitu and ambassadors of the rich cheese not only our region but outside of Spain. Countries like U.S., Japan or Germany are receiving countries where cheese is having a good acceptance.

Covered by Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) has two main variants. The variant is carried out once hierarchical curd milk, passing it augers (molds) with garfilla, serum goes through the holes of the mold. The draining is slow, there is only pressed itself.
