Leek Tops Sahagun

Developed in Sahagún by “Vegasahagún”.

The leek is a prominent elite retains sapidity, delicate texture and appearance. Culinary gem-produced compared to unfortunately introduced by major distributors. This come from Sahagún, southeast of Leon in the Camino de Santiago, is a product of the land that is recognized. Of their tradition, there are written references from more than ten centuries. The origin of this crop is to be found in the settlement from which Benedictine Cluny, came during the reign of Alfonso VI. Mark currently has warranty seal and certification of "Food Product Handicraft Castilla y Leon."

This is a local variety and is characterized by a very delicate leek and aromatic with a fruity taste, sweet, very typical of the fresh vegetables, some note of “terroir”, not at all related to conservation, bite tender, juicy and slightly spicy in the mouth. It presents as top pieces,the “neck” or “collar” the most delicious, to be consumed as is or for preparing purees. Product essential in our diet combined with excellent extra virgin olive oil, salsa, sour cream, anchovies, salads, stuffed with delicious shavings of ham or beef, or fried in tempura.
